A huge thank you to Lawrie and Marg, with the help of their daughter Tanya, for hosting us at Lakefeld on Saturday. Despite a drizzly start, it turned out to be a bright and clear day with perfect temperatures for wandering through the bush and taking in the view from their verandah. As usual, we enjoyed a delicious morning tea and lunch (I think they are getting more elaborate as we go on), and then explored several areas on the property, including the permaculture garden, a rocky outcrop on the top of the property and a regenerated area at the bottom, where Scott’s sharp eyes spotted two well-camouflaged tawny frogmouths. The group challenge was to get everyone to spot them too.
We chatted about our next gathering, and decided we have done several “walk and talks”, next we will do a “work and talk”, with a working bee at Daniel’s property and feature tools and techniques for removing lantana and replanting cleared areas. This will be an event we will share with the LFW membership and anyone else, to see if more people might like to join our group. More details to come.
Take care and enjoy your beautiful patch of bush,
